Welcome to the temporary home of the Novels Reviewed Database, 1790-1820 !

The NRD catalogs book reviews from The Critical Review and The Monthly Review published from January 1790 to December 1820. Reviews included identify the work under review with the genre identifier of "novel". This makes the NRD the first and only data set of novels that we can definitively identify as works that eighteenth-century critics understood to be novels, and the only data set of novels that were represented as novels to the British reading public.
